Programs
At MSSL we offer year round Day-School programs for children birth to Kindergarten with school-day and extended day options. For older children we also offer after-school programs and summer camp for children up to twelve years old.

As an AMS Member School, we are proud to say that we have Montessori Certified Teachers heading each of our classroom groups. This allows the curriculum to follow each child and support their growth and learning as individuals so that each and every child gains the full benefit from their time with our school.
As a part of our curriculum, we are proud to offer several ancillary classes to help children grow as well rounded individuals. These classes are included at no additional charge to families as we feel that all of our students should have the opportunity to benefit from these classes. The favorite of these: soccer and sportsmanship classes provided by Coach Papi.
In the elementary after-school program, children are provided with a much needed snack break followed by a homework period where our trained staff provides help and tutoring. After the homework period is finished, children enjoy classroom projects, computer time, and outdoor activities for the remainder of their afternoon. Over the summers, school aged students are welcome to join us for our full day summer camp including field trips, topical enrichment and expansion classes, art and literacy projects, and planned science experiences.
We offer transportation between our school and the following elementary schools for students in our Before and After School program or needing wrap-around care for public Pre-K: Austin Parkway Elementary, Settlers Way Elementary, Highlands Elementary, Commonwealth Elementary, Dulles Elementary, Colony Bend, Colony Meadows, and Lexington Elementary. Pick-up from other schools, public and private alike, may be available by request requested.

Our youngest classroom focuses on infants and children under 18 months and providing responsive care to your baby. Their classroom day and schedule is based on their needs as individuals. Our loving teachers will accommodate your infant’s feeding schedule and follow their needs for sleeping and active times according to your baby’s interest and activity level. As babies grow into toddlers at differing ages, promotion from the infant class into the toddler class will be determined based on assessment of individual children and their developmental progress. Generally children are ready to make this transition between 13 months and 16 months.
Our toddler classroom is designed to accommodate young toddlers and twos, giving them the the best nurturing care and support while introducing them to early academic learning experiences in a positive and hands-on framework. These early experiences help shape their approach to learning later on in their schooling as well as establishing a foundation of self-confidence as life-long learners.
As the classroom name implies, this is in part a transition or bridge classroom for children in their twos and early threes who are making the developmental move from being toddlers to being preschoolers.
Our “Primary Classrooms” are multi-age Montessori Preschool classrooms for children three through six years old. The classroom day is designed to give children a block of uninterrupted morning time for work as well as opportunities for outside activities throughout the day. Academically, teacher’s individualize instruction to genuinely follow each child and provide support and guidance while honoring each child’s capabilities. In the multi-age classroom, children have opportunities to learn from each other as peers and also as peer mentors in addition to learning through their interaction with teachers and their work with materials in the classroom. This gives children more ways to build and test their understanding while also building their self-confidence as life-long learners.
Our afterschool program picks children up from their elementary schools and returns them to MSSL for an afternoon snack, homework and tutoring time, and fun supervised games and activities.
